Matt Gravatt

Program Officer

Matt is a Program Officer at Energy Innovation, where he works with the firm’s clients to create effective strategies to achieve their climate and energy philanthropy goals. He has more than a decade of experience working on climate, energy, and progressive policy and leading high-impact programs for some of the nation’s top policy, political, and advocacy organizations.

Prior to joining Energy Innovation, Matt was a Managing Director at Climate Power, where he helped lead the organization’s strategic communications, campaign, and political operations focused on building political will and public support for bold climate action, including efforts to advance the Build Back Better agenda and pass the Inflation Reduction Act. Previously, Matt worked as PAC Director and Deputy Legislative Director at the Sierra Club, where he led the organization’s political program and federal advocacy to protect clean air and curb fossil fuel pollution. He began his career as an organizer on political campaigns in his home state of North Carolina.

Matt holds a B.A. in history and a B.A. in Spanish from Appalachian State University. He actively volunteers on local climate and environmental advocacy in Washington, D.C. Outside the office, Matt enjoys traveling, exploring local food scenes, and outdoor adventures.
