Emily Bruns
Research Manager
Emily Bruns is Research Manager with Energy Innovation, leading individual research projects to support philanthropic strategy and ensure resources are focused on the highest carbon savings opportunities.
She has more than 15 years of experience in the climate field, ranging from cutting-edge laboratory research to policy design and implementation. Prior to joining Energy Innovation, she worked for the State of Washington as a senior environmental planner. She contributed to the design and implementation of a variety of climate-related regulations, including Washington’s carbon cap and invest program, greenhouse gas reporting program, and hydrofluorocarbon reduction program. Before her work in state government, she held a research position at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland, developing and applying novel scientific approaches to characterize atmospheric emissions and improve our understanding of climate, air quality, and health.
Emily holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bowdoin College. She currently resides in Olympia, Washington.
