New research from World Resources Institute using Energy Innovation’s India Energy Policy Simulator explores two climate policy packages for India corresponding to differing medium- and long-term decarbonization objectives. The modeling finds a NDC-SDG Scenario aligned with the country’s first Nationally Determined Contribution would cut emissions 37 percent by 2050. But a more ambitious Long-Term Decarbonization Scenario which includes policies with high decarbonization potential would cut emissions 30 percent by 2030 and 65 percent by 2050, while creating 39 million jobs and preventing 9.4 million premature deaths by 2050.
Pathways For Decarbonizing India’s Energy Future: Scenario Analysis Using The India Energy Policy Simulator
New World Resources Institute research using EI's India Energy Policy Simulator finds a long-term strategy for decarbonizing India could cut emissions 65 percent, add 39 million jobs, and avoid 9.4 million premature deaths by 2050.
