Clean Trucks, Big Bucks

This analysis, conducted in partnership with Environmental Defense Fund, uses the California Energy Policy Simulator to assess the state’s new Advanced Clean Trucks rule – the world’s first clean truck standard. Modeling shows the rule will generate more than $7 billion in savings through 2040, roughly $1 billion higher than the California Air Resources Board’s estimate, yielding tremendous public health benefits valued at $9 billion dollars. When using a battery cost closer to those observed for passenger vehicles, these savings rise to more than $12 billion through 2040.
