A National Clean Electricity Standard To Benefit All Americans

Recent studies have modeled various aspects of a net-zero carbon future, including the impacts of achieving high penetrations of clean electricity, and have consistently found that a clean electricity standard of 80 percent by 2030 is technologically and economically feasible and could also expedite the transition to clean energy, ensure climate stability, and provide pathways to prosperity for all Americans. This report highlights the consensus among these studies’ findings and articulates seven reasons why the U.S. should adopt an 80 percent CES by 2030 including investment and jobs, public health, climate stability, reliability, affordability, feasibility, and innovation.
