Shannon Stirone is Managing Editor at Energy Innovation, where she leads editorial production of all research reports, modeling analysis, bylined editorials, and blogs. She also maintains and implements the firm’s organizational style guide and leads writing training for its staff.
Shannon’s professional career started in documentary film, where she spent eight years producing social justice and science documentaries, including Toxic Hot Seat and Paper Tigers, for HBO. For the past 10 years, she’s worked as a science writer and journalist as a contributor to the New York Times, The Atlantic, Popular Science, Wired, and others. She’s written about everything from astronomy and physics to the ethical challenges of climate change, and her work has been recognized in the 2019, 2020, and 2021 editions of Best American Science and Nature Writing.
Over the last five years, Shannon has held different roles as managing editor in the tech world. Editing experiences include serving as Managing Editor for ServiceNow, a SaaS platform used around the world, and Managing Editor for Lacework, a SaaS cybersecurity company, where she managed the editorial program for both internal and external outlets.
Shannon is originally from Los Angeles, and she spent 15 years in the Bay Area before settling in New York City. She graduated with honors from Sonoma State University with a B.A. in art history and a minor in fine art.
